Mike Vilhauer lost for a week while fishing in California. He lost his way, and was heading back too late. To protect himself from the sun, he found shelter under a pine to stay warm. He became thirsty and hungry again the next day, so he took a drink from puddles. He walked around circles the next day trying to find his way to civilization.

Mike realized after five days of hiking up the mountains that he was totally lost and needed to be guided. He wrote to his loved ones explaining his dilemma and apologizing. He saw the helicopter from above on the morning, Aug. 10. He swung his arms in the air to attract the attention of the pilot, who spotted him and alerted the search and rescue crews to his location. Eight to nine rescuers were dispatched from different counties, including Nevada. The story was also broadcast on national television.

Adrian Knopps story

An incredible survival story in wilderness, Adrian Knopps, an electrician survived seven days on his own in Alaskan wilderness following a terrifying bear hunt with a friend. The two men had become separated and Knopps was in desperate need of help. Knopps' companion had fled into the rife, leaving Knopps alone, surrounded with bears and wolf pack. The storm was battering them with 70-mph winds and no cell service, and he was slipping into hypothermia and hallucinating. Coast Guard officials informed him that they have never seen anyone survive so extreme wilderness conditions.

Knopps was soaked to his bones by the torrential rains. He suffered hypothermia and exhaustion but never lost his faith. The Coast Guard contacted his wife and helicoptered to help. Knopps suffered from severe hypothermia, hallucinations, swelling of the feet and joints, as well as severe hypothermia. However, he did not lose heart. It was a strange accident, he still believes it happened without any apparent reason.
